Thankful for....Puppies

When my children were little we did a "Gratitude Journal" every November, but since they are a little bigger we've let it slide. This year I'm going to pick it up again and do it here. Of course I would have to pick the November that has the most days between the first and Thanksgiving; guess I better put on my thinking cap. These are in no particular order.

So here is the first post:

Alex and Roxy

Alex and Roxy

I am thankful for my puppies. Alex came to us just about nine years ago this month and we have loved him so much.  He is a gentle lover.  His full name is Alexander the Great, so named for his delusions of grandeur. He is very protective of us and his home.  No one goes in front of the house without a warning bark from Alex.  He stands guard until we come home.  Now if everyone is home then he could care less who goes in front of the house, but come into the property and I'm sorry, but he is full on!

I think my favorite quirk about him is the ability to know "all is well."  When Steve works late he will not come into the bedroom until he is home.  He will stand guard at the top of the stairs right by the master bedroom door until all is well in the house.  I'm told that when I'm gone over night he refuses to even come into the bedroom and sleep.  He just loves me that much.

Roxy on the other hand is a holy terror.  If she were in school she would be sent to the principal's office daily because she is a bully.  We got her about two years ago and she has added a spark to our family. She loves to play an she is always ready for fun.  She is very over weight and will run with me most of the time.  But taking her for a run means she has to get a bath and that is the one thing she really hates.

These two lovely puppies helped me survive the long hours in my bed while recovering from cancer treatments.  They may be a load of trouble but I love them and I am so thankful for their never end energy, love and companionship.

They truly love each other.

They truly love each other.
