Wedding Bells
What a beautiful wedding. The day was almost perfect. The rain shower about two hours before the ceremony wasn't fun, but a couple of towels to dry off the seats and it was perfect. In fact it kept the heat away.
We sure did miss Jason and that was the only thing missing from the night. Kray choose Ferrel McWhither Park, a favorite of his and the setting was perfect. Thankfully Alysia went along with the location. Her family provided most of the decorations and the food. It was a delightful evening.
I wish this edition had the professional photos, but that will have to wait. You'll have to do with the snap shots that were shared by our family and friends.
Will Run for Donuts: Ragnar 2014
I think I'm addicted to Ragnars. This year we were team 3 if that gives you any indication as to how fast I signed up after I got the email you could sign up for 2014 Ragnar Northwest Passage! This year our team was smokin' it! We cut off TWO plus hours off our predicted time. That rocks! Everyone stepped up and did their best. Maddi even took her mom's long run (8 plus miles, up hill) after her own 8 miler. Her mom, Cyndi, had twisted her ankle and was toughing it out. She put her van an hour ahead of time!
We even had a 14 year old boy step in the last minute and run for another runner who was home violently ill. WOW! And he definitely wants to come back next year! WOW
This year I ran in van two. Very different and I'm not sure which one I like better. I loved my legs (19 plus miles together) and running at 2 am in the morning over a pier out in the middle of a bay was quite a trip! I smoked it! I ran an average of 8:45 minute miles! I NEVER run that fast. I'm not sure what happened, but for the past four months I've been averaging 10:35/minutes during training, but something happened and I booked it! My last leg ended downhill and I ran so hard to catch the last runner! I needed that kill and I got it.
But I've created a monster. My team is looking at doing Napa Valley in September 2015! I've already planned the trip--I guess I'm addicted and I don't want to go to a 12 step program. I'll keep drinking the Kool-Aid!
Cub Camp 2014
Mike, Matt, Chris and Doreen had the priveledge of working Cub Camp again this summer. Doreen and Mike were BB gun range master (yes, Mike passed the test!). Matt and Chris worked one session at BBs and the other they were Den Chiefs. They rocked both places they were at! Many adults commented on what a great den chief my boys made! I'm one lucky mom!!!
Mike and I made sure that every boy hit the paper!! And if they didn't hit the paper it wasn't because we didn't try. In fact about the only skill I have is getting a young cub scout to go from not even hitting the paper to hitting the Bull's Eye! Yes, I'm that good. Now put the gun in my hand and I may not hit the target. It has something to do with "Old Eyes".
Dance Camp
Jessie made the Redmond High Dance camp! She spent cub camp week in intensive dance camp training. She was sad to miss working with the cubs and the adults were sorry she missed cub camp, but she had a blast at dance camp. She came home very sore each night!
