Family Fun

I had promised the kids to take them to the Family Fun Center in Tukwila for years and I finally did it! They did the bumper cars, go karts (poor Chris got a dud), laser tag (Steve and I joined them--so fun!) and we did mini golf. Now I don't mean to brag--wait, yes I do!--but I had three holes in ones and came out UNDER par. I must be my father's daughter. (You can stop clapping now.)

After this we went to Lynnwood and played 90 minutes of Whilryball. We joined Chris's seminary teacher and some of the other students and had a BLAST! It's on my list of do-agains! It was a blast.

 FIVE!!!!

I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, my 45th birthday or the fact that I'm five years from diagnosis!  I think both are great accomplishments. We celebrated by going to Ixtapa and had a great time! It was wonderful.

Five years ago I found out I had cancer and then signed up for a half marathon so I'm going back to that race and giving each kilometer sign (it's in Canada) a high five as I go by! I'm celebrating the fact that I'm still cancer free.

This isn't something we are taking lightly because all year we thought cancer had come back. Back in January I had kidney stones and upon further investigations they found some "spots" in my bladder. Three or four look-sees and two biopsy couldn't confirm cancer so they are just doing to keep an eye on it. WHEW! The stats for survival go drastically down if cancer returns before the fifth year. Whew! See I'm not sure what to celebrate more.

Oh, and I'd love your financial support as I once again raise money for the LLS through TNT and my race. Please just drop me a note and I'll be happy to get you the information on how to donate.

Soccer!

It is a bittersweet soccer season. This is our last soccer season with a player on a team. Next year Jessie's team will play on Sundays and therefore she had decided that this is her last year. Doreen is coaching this year and it will be her last year.

Doreen has calculated that she has been involved with soccer since 1998 when Kray first laced up his boots to play. Steve was the coach, but behind every good coach is a spouse who shows up with balls and snacks. Doreen stepped into the head coach role in 2004 when Mike's coach moved and the boys wanted to stay together. She has coached each of her kids at some point. In fact Jessie has had no other coach but Doreen.

But all good things must come to an end and this is the year that the Blandings can remove themselves from the youth recreational scene in Redmond. It has been quite fun!
