Thankful for...my Mother-in-law

My mother-in-law.

I know most daughters are supposed to hate their mother-in-law but I actually like mine. Sure she has her quirks, but so do I.  Here are some of the reasons I love her and am thankful for her:

She is quirky. She thinks a bit differently than I do. She raised my husband. She has a wonderful hobby that brings joy to her and her family. She is very particular about the way things should be done. She is a fantastic cook (I learn something every time I'm in the kitchen with her). Her door is always open. She is honest. She knows when to have fun and how to be serious. She is kind. She loves nature. She works hard. She loves the Gospel. She loves and includes all in her circle. She is always faithful. She doesn't forget herself yet she is selfless. She loves life and loves all.

I have learned so much from her. I'm so thankful that I can call her mom and I will never forget that day when HER SON drove into her driveway and she came running out of her house with arms wide open and embraced me--me a stranger--and called me HER daughter.  I know I wasn't the "one" she had picked for her son, but she loved me from that moment on and I will always remember how she told me that day, "You can call me mom," and she meant "MOM" with all the meaning and love that goes behind that word.

My hope is that I'm that kind of mother-in-law to my daughters and son-in-law.

Thank you MOM!
